At Niños de Guatemala, our classrooms and hallways came alive with pride and celebration during the “Semana Chapina” (Guatemalan Week). In Nuestro Futuro Primary School, Nuestro Futuro Secondary School, and El Porvenir, students experienced a week where love for Guatemala turned into learning, creativity, and community.
Throughout the week, our children took part in activities that sparked curiosity and strengthened their identity. They explored the meaning of our national symbols, led a civic act where they shared traditions and celebrated academic achievement with diplomas and recognitions.
The walls of our schools were covered with colorful murals showcasing Guatemala’s rich culture: from the marimba and national currency to our delicious traditional foods. And to close, the beloved Placita brought everyone together to share food, flavors, and joy.
This was more than a week of events—it was a powerful reminder of what it means to grow up in a country rich in diversity and culture. Our students not only celebrated, they also learned to embrace who we are and where we come from
