Celebrating a Year of Growth and Achievements: Highlights from Our Schools in 2024

As we close the 2024 school year, we reflect on the incredible journey of growth, learning, and community within the three Niños de Guatemala’s schools: El Porvenir and Nuestro Futuro primary and secundary school. Thanks to the collective efforts of students, teachers, staff, and families, this year has been filled with milestones and moments to celebrate.

A Year of Learning and Milestones

Throughout the year, our students demonstrated resilience, creativity, and determination. From structured classes to project-based learning, innovative teaching methods helped foster academic growth and essential life skills. Programs like reading comprehension and technology integration played a vital role in building a strong educational foundation.

In Nuestro Futuro Secundaria, students reached new heights through hands-on projects, leadership opportunities, and civic engagement. Highlights included the Science Fair, where students presented innovative experiments with creativity and confidence, and the election of the Student Government, a valuable lesson in democracy and leadership.

Meanwhile, in Nuestro Futuro Primaria, students embraced the challenge of learning English, improving their vocabulary and communication skills through games, conversations, and interactive activities. The Spelling Bee competition was a highlight, showcasing their achievements and filling families with pride.

At El Porvenir, academic successes shone brightly, with 179 students advancing to the next grade. Families showed unwavering support, whether by preparing for student projects or sharing birthday celebrations with heartfelt gestures that brought joy to the classrooms.

Our schools hosted numerous events that inspired learning and connection. Here are just a few highlights:

Science Fairs and Civic Acts: Students demonstrated critical thinking and creativity, while monthly civic ceremonies reinforced national pride and values.

Celebrations and Cultural Events: From Día del Niño (Children’s Day) festivities and book dramatizations to the much-loved Placita Cívica (Civic Plaza), these activities nurtured a sense of community and cultural appreciation.

Interclasroom Activities: Collaborative competitions and shared experiences strengthened bonds among students, teachers, and even volunteers, such as Maxime, whose dedication left a lasting impact.
