Descripción del puesto:

Los negocios sociales de la ONG Niños de Guatemala busca un Auxiliar Administrativo, con conocimiento de la legislación en Guatemala, para asistir en el desarrollo del departamento de Finanzas y operaciones de la organización. Bajo la supervisión del Gerente de Negocios Sociales y con el seguimiento del equipo de Finanzas de Niños de Guatemala, realizar tareas administrativas y de gestión y reservaciones por servicios, recursos humanos, recibiendo, registrando y transmitiendo información y documentación sobre transacciones financieras, así como operaciones de tratamiento de datos, manteniendo la confidencialidad requerida y de acuerdo a las normas y procedimientos definidos por la organización.

Los Negocios sociales de Niños de Guatemala cuentan con un escuela de Español, Tour Operador y colaboración de empresa cafetera y la ONG Niños de Guatemala cuenta actualmente con dos escuelas primarias en las localidades de Ciudad Vieja y San Lorenzo el Cubo,  un instituto básico en Ciudad Vieja, y las oficinas centrales en La Antigua.

El auxiliar administrativo trabaja de manera independiente con la contabilidad de los negocios sociales via QuickBooks ademas de trabajar atención al cliente directo tanto en ingles como en castellano para la parte operacional de reservación y gestión de todos los servicios de los negocios sociales: clases de español, alojamiento, guías turísticas y distribución y venta de cafe tanto de exportación como en una cafeteria y snack bar nueva   y sirve de enlace en materia financiera y de recursos humanos con las distintas unidades: administración de las negocios sociales. 

ONG Niños de Guatemala y sus negocios sociales son una organización y sociedades anónimas que se encuentran en una fase de rápido crecimiento, y que se encuentra en pleno proceso de profesionalización de los procesos administrativos y financieros.

Funciones, actividades y/o tareas:

  • Emisión de cheques. Elaboración de pagos en general y depósitos bancarios.
  • Completar los formatos de órdenes de pago por diferentes conceptos: pagos a proveedores, pagos de servicios, pagos de alquiler, etc.
  • Llevar control de las cajas chicas: arqueo y liquidación de cajas.
  • Control de donaciones en especie.
  • Realizar registros contables.
  • Elaboración de constancias de ingresos.
  • Mantener actualizado registros auxiliares y libros contables, entre otros via QuickBooks
  • Llevar y mantener actualizado los expedientes de empleados: permisos, inasistencias, aspectos disciplinarios y demás información relacionada con el personal de la organización.
  • Elaboración de la planilla salarial.
  • Elaboración y presentación de formularios ante los distintos organismos públicos: IGSS, SAT, Ministerio de Trabajo, IVE.
  • Reporte a su supervisor.

 

Requisitos:

  • Perito contador. Preferiblemente si se está cursando licenciado en auditoria o carreras afines.
  • Tener experiencia mínima de 1 año realizando labores administrativo financieras y de gestión operacional (deseable).
  • Excelente comprensión de las finanzas, la contabilidad y los informes financieros.
  • Dominio completo del paquete de office y excelente manejo del sistema Excel. Conocimiento del sistema contable Quickbooks es un plus.
  • Inglés: nivel intermedio hablado y escrito
  • Identificarse con la Misión y Visión de la ONG y trabajar para ellas con dedicación.
  • Ser creativo/a y proactivo/a en su manera de trabajar y planificar.
  • Ser una persona dinámica, con mentalidad empresarial, dispuesta a marcar una diferencia y con dedicación a la organización y al proyecto.
  • Disponibilidad de horario para asistir a eventos ocasionales de la ONG y de las escuelas.

The overall mission of the NGO Niños de Guatemala (NDG) is to help build a better future for
Guatemala. NDG aims to do this through providing Guatemalan disadvantaged children and adults with
education and opportunities to develop themselves.
To achieve this NDG consists of 1) The School ́Nuestro Futuro’, in Ciudad Vieja, and the school ‘El
Porvenir’ in San Lorenzo el Cubo 2) the Income Generation department in Antigua and 3) the NGO as
the umbrella organization. One of the three values of NDG is self-sustainability. In order to accomplish
this, NDG operates three commercial ventures: Cambio Spanish School, Impact Experiences & NDG ChicaBean Coffee, all of which donating all profits to the NGO. To continue its mission,the NGO is looking for a Social Business Manager.

Social Business

Cambio Spanish School (Cambio) is a business start-up, specialised in linguistic tourism initiated in the end of 2012 by NGO Niños
de Guatemala, following the principles of profit-for-nonprofit. As a social business, Cambio aims to
make a difference in the social development of low-income families in Guatemala as well as to provide
the highest quality Spanish instruction available in Antigua in person in addition to offering Skype online. Through focusing on these objectives,
Cambio aims to grow into one of the most important players among Spanish schools in Guatemala.
In addition, Niños de Guatemala operates a commercial venture called “Impact Experiences”.
a tour operator offering, “off the beaten track” tours locally and nationally in Guatemala, tourists visit NDG schools, local businesses, and the community where most NDG children and their families live in addition to the key highlights of Guatemala each experiencing offering a non-touristic twist. The tour generates funding for NDG schools, and participants learn
about social issues in Guatemala.NDG Chicabean Coffee business is a collaboration project focused on female empowerment and speciality coffee to be sold both for export in the US and Canada in addition to at a new coffee shop and snack bar for which investment has been obtained. NDG Chicabean has exported 1.7 tonnes of coffee since recent startup and has great potential to expand as the speciality market grows and demand for traceable, direct, socially impactful cofffee increases.

Job Description

The Social Business Manager will be in charge of taking the existing organizations of both Cambio
Spanish School, Impact Experiences and NDG Chicabean coffee into the next phase of development:
professionalizing, strategizing and growing the businesses. The overall
goal is to create the biggest and best-qualified commercial tourist hub in Antigua, which is known by all
tourists visiting the city. The manager will be given a lot of freedom, with the opportunity to manage
the businesses as if they were his/her own.

    • Leading the growth and professionalization of Cambio Spanish School, Impact Experiences and NDG ChicaBean. The aim is to generate
      an annual revenue of at least $215,000.
    • Leading the growth and professionalization of the Impact Experiences tour operator, not only by
      further development of existing tours but as well expansion of the tour business.
    • Further developing marketing strategy and executing this strategy, e.g. focusing on online
      presence, local and international partnerships and word-of-mouth promotion
    • Supervising the operations assistant and INGUAT tour guide, as well as the team of
      freelance teachers of Cambio Spanish School and freelance accommodation providers.
    • Ensuring financial accountability via Quickbooks software and act as primary liaison with investors.
    • Quality control over the products and services provided, to ensure an exceptional experience
      for all customers.
    • Composing and executing HR strategy and policies
    • Doing research on and developing new areas of social business for Niños de Guatemala.

    • A (young) professional or entrepreneur with management experience (preferably in a for profit
      context).
    • Academic background in the sphere of business, management, law, economics or social
      sciences
    • Entrepreneurial mindset, problem-solving mentality, strong leadership, customer-oriented
    • Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish
    • Willing to make a difference and willing to put a lot of effort and energy into the project
    • At least 2 years available for full-time activities in Guatemala, starting January 2019

Vacancy: SEEKING COMMUNICATIONS INTERN BASED IN ANTIGUA AREA – Niños de Guatemala (INTERN/VOLUNTEER)

The mission of Niños de Guatemala is to build a better future for Guatemalan children through education. To continue its mission, the Fundraising and Development Department is looking for two Communications Interns for 20 hours per week.

Job Description
The Communications Officer  is an unpaid internship position that promotes the organisation’s image locally and internationally. Currently, NDG has a strong presence in the Netherlands, a branch in France, is expanding in Guatemala, and recently registered in the US. Wider national and international recognition is a high priority for the Niños de Guatemala. The Communications Officer will work under the supervision and coaching of the Donations Manager of FDD.

Responsibilities
– Update the website (through a user-friendly interface software).
– Update NDG profiles on social networks (Facebook, Twitter) with information about NDG, Guatemala, events, education, etc.
– Write and design the monthly newsletter.
– Actively network with publications and organizations in Guatemala and abroad.
– Help organize and promote fundraising events.
– Assist in the implementation of a new CRM system.
– Design brochures, flyers, posters, and other promotional materials for various programs of NDG.
– Document daily activities and special events through photos and videos.

Requirements
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– University studies preferably in communication, journalism, marketing, business, public administration, non-profit management
– A responsible, creative and independent work attitude
– Proficient computer skills
– Availability to work full-time in Guatemala for a minimum of 3 months – with an extension of up to 1 year
– Ability to support oneself financially for the duration of the internship
– Dedication to NDG’s mission and orientation to its goals
– Excellent English and Moderate-Intermediate Spanish
