This month, excitement filled the classrooms of Niños de Guatemala. From kindergarten to eleventh grade, all our students participated in a friendly Spelling Bee competition. As part of our Dual Immersion Program, the event gave everyone a chance to shine in English.
Each student stepped up with courage. Some spelled their first English words. Others tackled more advanced vocabulary. No matter the grade, every child showed confidence and pride.
Activities like the Spelling Bee play an important role in our bilingual education model. They don’t just help students improve their language skills—they also encourage them to believe in themselves. Speaking English in front of an audience isn’t easy, especially for young learners, but our students did it with pride and joy.
“The Spelling Bee makes learning fun,” said one student. “I feel proud when I get the words right. It makes me want to keep learning more!”
Teachers and staff cheered the students on with enthusiasm, celebrating every attempt and every correct answer. These moments remind us of the power of education—not just in the classroom, but in experiences that build self-esteem and create lasting memories.
At Niños de Guatemala, we know that learning happens in many forms. Competitions like this foster a love of language and learning while reinforcing classroom lessons in a playful and dynamic way. Most importantly, they help students gain the confidence to use their voices.
We’re proud of each participant for their hard work, effort, and courage. And we’re even more excited to continue creating more spaces like this—where learning is joyful, and students know they can achieve anything.
