Meet Analy Varela: Building Local Alliances to Support Education
Analy Varela joined Niños de Guatemala (NDG) in February 2024 as the Local Alliances Coordinator. Her role, crucial for our mission, focuses on forming partnerships with companies and organizations that are aligned with our values of respect, honesty, and responsibility. These alliances allow NDG to develop impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs that support more than 500 children from low-income families in Guatemala.
Analy’s journey with NDG started as a Spanish teacher, where she witnessed first-hand the organization’s dedication to empowering children through education. Inspired by NDG’s commitment to building a brighter future for Guatemala, she knew she wanted to be part of this extraordinary team.
Her work involves presenting NDG’s projects to potential partners, inviting them to visit our schools, and creating avenues for them to contribute in ways that have lasting impacts—through food donations, financial support, or other resources. Every donation is acknowledged with photos and reports to ensure our partners see the tangible difference they’re making.
But the path hasn’t been without challenges. Building lasting relationships, raising awareness about NDG’s mission, and diversifying sources of support require continuous dedication. Analy’s creative approach to diversifying donations, including food, funds, and volunteer contributions, allows NDG to rely on more than just monetary support. She emphasizes that logistics, particularly in rural areas, can be complex, but she’s deeply motivated to ensure that every resource reaches those most need it.
One memory that stands out to Analy is seeing students’ joy when they receive a unique snack—something they don’t often have access to. “Seeing their smiles and genuine gratitude is unforgettable,” she says, “and it drives me to do my best every day.”
