About this trip
ACATENANGO OVERNIGHT HIKE
Our tours let you experience the real Guatemala with 100% of profits going directly to Niños de Guatemala schools. Just by taking a tour, you are helping to support families in need in Guatemala!
Acatenango is a stratovolcano in Guatemala, close to the city of Antigua. The volcano has two peaks, Pico Mayor and Yepocapa which is also known as Tres Hermanas. This is a 6 hour hike to the top, so hiking footware and clothes are required, however, for the adventurous this volcano hike offers a view and experience comparable to no other with local guides from Guatemala.
In our group tour the guides are generally Spanish speaking, some speak basic English. The group size is between 4 to 20 people, who have different nationalities and individual physical conditions. The guide will try to keep the group together. Please adjust to the group pace and stay in the group to not get lost. There are several paths so it’s important to wait for the guides instructions. If you prefer walking at your own pace you can request a private guide (see “private hike” below) The guide will give his recommendations at his moment. There are 6 strategical resting points. They are only to regain energy and then continue (about 10 to 15 min). You will be accompanied by professional guides that have all the necessary information, a positive attitude at all times and all the support you need.
“Remember that you climb the mountains, not to surpassing others, but yourself.”
If you want to visit two volcanoes on one tour, you can go to the Fuego Volcano to see the sunset after arriving at the Base Camp. The approximate time of the round trip from the Camp is about 3 hours. Medium to high physical condition is required. Prices: 1 person Q.200; 2 to 3 people Q.100 per person. 5 people is the maximal size of group per guide to go to the Fuego Volcano. We will be happy to give you further information at the headquarters of our association.
On this private tour you have the option of a bilingual guide, who accompanies you at all times, hiking at your own pace. The guide will give you his recommendations throughout the tour. There are 6 strategical resting points, but you can rest more if you wish. From experience, it is better to do short breaks, only to regain energy and then continue. Your guide has all the necessary information, a positive attitude at all the times and all the support you need. This tour is only for those who want to walk alone or prefer walking in a small group with their friends to go in their own pace.
Be part of our initiative eco Guatemala and by taking all of the garbage you generate. We try our best to generate a minimum amount of trash possible and always live in respect and harmony with the planet.
